I'm sure you could have guessed from the title that I am no longer a working woman. It came about so quickly I didn't even know what hit me, but I am so thankful. The place I was working was not where God wanted me or my family to be and as the birth of our wonderful little man approaches I knew it was time to stop working there and participating in a church we didn't feel God wanted us at and instead focus on where God wanted us to be.
So in light of that Wade and I have decided to start a house church. It is a huge undertaking but we really feel that is what God is telling us to do and has been telling us to do for awhile now. So we are diving in head first and seeing where the Lord takes it. It is a scary road to travel down as we have no clue what will be in store for us but we trust God in this and know it is what He is asking of us. We had our first meeting on Sunday and it was really good to have people there who share the same heart as we do and who want to see how to glorify God in their lifes more. We are excited to see who else God will call into our group and how He will move us to make His name great.
Now that I am a housewife, I am working on a budget and let me just say.... I am no good at this. I decided it will probably take me until June to get the hang of following the budget and not just running out and buying whatever I "need" when I want to go get it. Going from 2 incomes to 1 will be challenging but I am so happy to be able to stay home with our kid and be able to watch him grow as it happens. So I guess learning a budget will just be one of the things I need to do in order to stay home with the babe. I am thankful that my husband has a great job that allows me to stay home even before the babe arrives and I want to do all I can to make his life a little easier when he is home so I am working on doing other things around the house that I have never done before. Let's just hope I don't break too many things around the house as I figure out this whole homemaker thing ;)
God will provide the wisdom, girl! I think it's wonderful you're starting a home church, too. Some of the sweetest fellowship I've ever had has been in one. You need to check out babycheapskate.com and get familiar with CVS and Walgreens. If you play your coupons, and the sale ads right, you can get away with some CHEAP necessities (diapers, wipes, deodorant, tooth paste, etc...) For instance, today I just bought 6 refill packs of Huggies wipes (that's a total of 18 individual tubs) for 9 bucks! I usually get Huggies/Pampers diapers for anywhere from 4.99-7.99 a pack, too. (Though cloth is great, too!) Definitely helps with the ol' budget when the baby arrives!
ReplyDeleteWe decided to keep me home out of no where...was NOT part of the "plan." But you will find you save money by not working b/c you don't use as much gas for your car, you are home to cook, coupon and you don't have to pay astronomical daycare fees (which most of the time the 2nd income earner has to make substantial money to cover that plus, even have any left to contribute). We were nervous at first but actually found that we are doing much better financially now then when I was working...But keep in mind it all takes time, I am just now getting to the point where I am confident in my budgeting skills and actually being able to stick to it!
ReplyDeletePS Go Cats!!! We actually get to see a game tonight since we don't have fancy cable.
Okay, so your last couple of sentences kind of cracked me up. You say you are going to attempt to do things around the house you have never done before and you're worried about breaking something. I am just curious...what is it exactly you intend to attempt that could be so potentially dangerous? :) Love ya dear! You are going to rock at being a Housewife! I think I would enjoy it more if I were in my own home in the States....it's not as fun living in some random house with a housekeeper....it's very odd, actually. She just picks up...I want her to do more hard core dusting, etc....but no matter how I ask, it just doesn't set in. Oh well, at least she is nice.
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations! I am so happy for you. It sounds like you are exactly where God wants you to be, and that's a really good place. :) I can't wait to hear more about your home church. How exciting!!
ReplyDeletegood question amanda :) im more afraid i will try to carry the vacumm down the stairs and drop it breaking something on the way down, or try to put a nail in the wall and create a huge hole. and yes, i have vaccummed before but i havent had to move it down the stairs since pregnancy and am a little nervous of how its going to end up ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Kels-i-bells, I miss you. Don't carry the vacuum both upstairs and downstairs, budget in a second one. :) I do have a budget template that Q made up and it is awesome. One income IS cheaper then 2 once you add in all that stuff like the other woman said. I would so go to your home church.
