Week 27... bare belly shot
How far along? today I am 27 weeks and 5 days
Baby is the size of a(n): He is about 14.5 inches long and weighs just over 2 lbs. About the size of a roast. (now im hungry)
Changes in me: I experienced my first braxton hicks contraction and I really dont understand how people say they don't feel a thing with them. It felt like I was sucker-punched in the stomach and I couldn't catch my breathe for a few minutes. I guess though I should get use to this feeling since I'm pretty sure giving birth is just a bunch of those sucker punches in a row ;) I told my doctor about it today and she assured me there is nothing to worry about as long as they don't happen multiple times in the same hour and luckily I only had one on Monday and nothing since. I guess its a good thing I don't work anymore and am able to relax during the day so I don't have them happen too often. I also think this was my body's way of welcoming me into the 3rd trimester :)
Food cravings: Reuben Sandwiches. I hadn't really craved any meat sandwiches until this week. I think the smell of them all as I drove passed bars on St. Patty's Day made me want one sooo bad. So I went out and got one, then brought it home and heated the heck out of it so I could enjoy. And boy was it good. I then decided to go out and buy a corned beef roast to make up myself for sandwiches all week. Once we return from our first baby shower this weekend I am planning on making it up and eating 2 sandwiches. Can't wait!
Sleeping: Pretty much the same as it has been. Although lately I have been waking up on my back and freaking out. I know it's not that big of a deal and my body will naturally respond to it, but now I have filled our bed with pillows surrounding me making hardly any room left on the bed for Wade. Good thing he is understanding and just handles my craziness and lets me fill the bed with pillows. So far it has helped me stay in place so we may be having the company of pillows for the next 3 months ;)
Milestones: His brain waves are able to work just like that of a newborn now and his immune system is becoming even more mature.
Babies activity: He has moved his body around so I don't feel all the hard kicks as much. Instead I feel his spine and elbows. The doctor said he has positioned himself to face my back and that is why I'm not feeling the kicks as much but that he will continue turning himself all about so some days I will feel kicks and others it will just be lighter jabs. It is nice though to give my bladder and ribs a break, even if it is only for a few days.
Interesting things that happened this past week: When I was at the doctors this morning and stepped on the scale I gasped when I saw my weight and the nurse laughed at me (not in a mean way). I wasn't expecting it to be so high as I had just weighed myself before walking out the door and it was 2 lbs less than what it said on their scale. I had forgotten that their scale is 2 lbs heavier than ours so my weight was what it should be but at first I didn't understand. I about stepped off and back on but decided against it since I already looked crazy by my gasping.
Hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the start of spring on Saturday, even if you are getting this same snowy mess we are. But at least we know spring is on the way!
You are so cute, girl! It's crazy how we count down the 9 months of a pregnancy, and then boom we have a little person, then you blink and you're digging dog food out of their mouth and constantly telling them to GET DOWN off of things they're not supposed to be on. Life is funny like that.
ReplyDeleteOH cute Kelley! You look great! I can't wait to hear about your baby shower! I got your sweet message! I'm bummed that I missed your shower. Q and I went on a church retreat camping, overnight, to regroup about our coming week. Surgery, gah. I covet your prayers as it happens this coming week! Talk to you soon my friend!
