Crazy weather last night...
Start of the storm
Last night we had a great storm and were even in a torando warning. Unfortunately hubs work schedule had kept him at work late last night so I was all alone during the storm and torando warning, which he had no clue was going on. I actually started laughing during it because our power kept flickering and the hail sounded so huge (it ended up being quarter size) BUT the whole time I was thinking.... I bet my water is going to break right now and I will be all alone in our laundry room giving birth. Ha! And of course I couldn't get ahold of hubs so I just imagined myself birthing our baby on the laundry room floor. No worries... the storm had no impact on my contractions.
Start of the torando warning
It has been a long time since I had seen the skies turn green and the trees still. I really thought the torando was going to come our way. But of course that didn't keep me away from taking pictures...I had to take them to show hubs when he got home just how bad the storm was. And I had to take them for you all too :)
Aftermath
We have a very small creek behind our house and this is right after the storm. It looked more like a river and had huge branches flowing through it! (I took this through the window cause hail was still falling down)
A piece of fence left behind in our yard after the storm.
I have heard so many theories about what things kick start birth. Storms being one of them. Apparently, that one does not work. I also heard a full moons start labor and we had one a week ago. That one didn't work either. So what are some things you all have heard start labor? I'm up for trying them out. It will be like our own little episode of myth busters :)
So let me know some theories you have heard and I will try them out, unless of course it is bad for me...like castor oil that one I will not try. Or just tell me some funny ones you heard when you were pregnant so we can laugh together.
Oooo I love storms! Neat pictures! Where about in the country do you live?
ReplyDeleteKate- We live in the midwest...smack dab in the middle of the country ;) We lived in DC though for 2 years which is why we didnt see storms like this for awhile. I had missed good ole midwestern storms!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that eating spicy food can bring on labor. And you know...doing IT.
ReplyDeleteBut I've never been pregnant so I don't know from experience.
A storm kicked off my mom's labor with me! I was born in the middle of a tornado warning, with hail and emergency lights only in the hospital. Now I love storms! lol
ReplyDeleteI've heard spicy food...cilantro, cayenne pepper...walking or exercising and dancing can induce labor :)
I love a good storm!! Those pics were great.
ReplyDeleteWell, here is what I did to shake out little mis
1. from 36 weeks on I walked and walked and squated and squated. I did squats like a bazillion times/day anytime I was standing that is what I was doing. :)
2. I did acupressure points on my ankles (you can google it I can't begin to explain it)
3. I ate jalapenos straight (4 days before she came)
4. I ran up my stairs and bounced on my yoga ball again ALL the time.
5. The thing I did that I think absolutely put me into labor is I ate a ton of basil and oregano I just put it on popcorn...I told you I was desperate for a Valentine's Day baby so that is what I did on V-Day, 24 hours later she was here! Apparently it is what is on eggplant parm that puts women into labor 24-48 hours later.
However, all that said I think a combo of those things helped, and if your body isn't ready nothing will really help. The squat thing will just help drop the baby which in turn helps you dilate.
Ok can't wait to see if anything works for you! :)
Nothing. :) The lady at DSW wouldn't let me try on any shoes because she said the squatting had put multiple women in labor and she didn't want to see another birth. So I don't know, but who isn't up for new shoes????
ReplyDeleteThe only time I have ever seen a funnel was in your grand state. :)
We have had some crazy storms too! Actually, just last night and it woke us up. It was hilarious because all four of us (two cats) jumped awake at the same time. Our cat KC flew straight up in the air, too funny.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that much about kick starting labor but maybe go on lots of walks?
my 1st was 17 days early so i didn't even have a chance to get antsy for him to arrive since he came so early! with my little gal, it looks like she is going to be born at exactly 40 weeks (tomorrow!) as i'm scheduled for a csection on my due date. i know you want to see your babe, but the longer they stay in, the better they nurse and the less problems they can have with jaundice. so, it's worth it! : )
