Hop on over to Carissa's blog and join in the fun!
~1~ Microwave. So last week I was making dinner and needed to use the timer on the microwave when I went to hit the timer button I hit a different button then tried to cancel it then hit too many buttons at once and the microwave shut off. Thinking I just blew a fuse hubs went and checked the fuse box, flipped some switches, and nothing happened. So then he unplugged everything, hit some reset buttons and still nothing. He continued to do everything he could think of for the next hour and still no power to the microwave or fridge. Finally we gave up and plugged the fridge into a different working outlet. We called an electrician to come out the next day and he couldn't find the problem, so he had to return the following day with another guy. Long story short, apparently when we did the pantry renovation the outlet fuse was still producing electricity and when I did my microwave stunt it burnt through the cap and shut off power to the whole wall. Oops. Lesson learned, do not hit too many microwave buttons at once.
~2~ Tooth. LB has his first tooth coming in. His bottom left one to be exact. I had not prepared myself for teething yet. At five months. The morning I noticed the tooth I was thinking how much I LOVED his toothless grin and how sweet he looked. I guess he didn't like the idea anymore. So I am now experiencing teething. And endless tears from the pain. Poor guy.
~3~ Shutterfly. It took 3 whole weeks for me to get my code for my 50 free prints. But shutterfly came through and sent it. But it did take 3 submissions, an email, and a facebook posting to get a response. And let me tell you social networking is the way to get things done. A few short hours after my facebook post I got an email stating they had looked through all the submissions and found an error in my entry. Apparently I wrote g,ail instead of gmail. Oops. I blame it on having a five month old who is intrigued by the computer and wants to help mommy type all the time. In any case I am very impressed with shutterfly's customer service. And of course, excited to have my 50 free Christmas cards.
~4~ Thanksgiving. This weekend we did Thanksgiving with my parents and sister's family in KC. I loved it. We did an Italian Thanksgiving, as kids we always did an Italian Christmas Eve. I've missed it. I hope it becomes a new tradition that LB will grow up. As long as he starts enjoying tomatoes and dairy. Because lets face it there are not many Italian dishes that don't include either of those things.
LB with his Poppie (you can tell his tooth is bothering him...poor baby)
~5~ Haircut. I finally cut my hair. It's not that different but I did get about 3 inches off and it feels so much lighter. I'm pretty sure the scale says I lost a pound too since getting it cut. I should do that more often ;) I don't have an after picture so I'll take one today and post it later this week. Next time I get it cut it will be more drastic I just had to get a feel for the stylist before I let her chop it. Baby steps.
~6~ Dairy. Now that I have cut it totally out of my diet LB is so much better. Seriously. He was spitting up after every feeding and then having painful spit up an hour later too. Now he hardly ever spits up. His eczema has cleared up and he no longer has bright red rashy cheeks. But let me tell you, it is not easy to stay clear of all dairy. It is in so much stuff. Even McDonald's french fries. So I have had to cook everything myself from scratch. Which is actually much better for me so I won't complain. It just makes it a little complicated when you are traveling and starving and there are a million mcdonalds on your route but you can't stop to get any of it. Because lets face it the best thing there are fries. BUT I will pass up all the fries if it means LB feels better. And he does. So life is much easier now. Except for the teething. Oh teething.
Have a wonderful week everyone! And if you have any ideas for non-dairy thanksgiving food let me know :)
I have a son roughly the same age and I think teething is just around the corner too. I didn't enjoy it with my first either. Found you through Lowercase.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. Teething is no fun at all! And no dairy might even be less fun! He is so cute!
ReplyDeleteCan you do soy? I know I need to give you recipes, I was going to talk to you about some on Sunday, but that's how it goes with babies! I have several recipes using soy instead of milk, like pancakes, and I have many chicken recipes that use no tomatoes or milk. No pizza, though. I don't know how to get around dairy with pizza except to use soy cheese, and I gotta tell you, soy cheese really isn't worth it.
ReplyDeleteTeething sucks. Put a large serving spoon in the freezer for a few hours and then give it to him to chew on. (This is only when you are right there to make sure he doesn't turn it around and stick the wrong end in his throat.) Frozen wet washcloths also feel good on their gums. They make little teething capsule things that are totally harmless, and I have friends that swear by them. I haven't really given them a whirl, but I know many that say they are the best thing ever. Tylenol and Ibprofren will help too. Poor little LB. I feel both of your pain!!! This too shall pass...
