Bye bye diapers

My lil man is potty trained! I am still in shock. I was for sure LB would be heading off to college in depends. We had tried so many times to potty train him and it just was not clicking. We even tried the 3-day method and he was not having it. In fact we quit that method after day one because he found it hilarious to soak everything in his site in pee. My house could not handle that kind of potty training. So we stopped. We backed way off and just decided we would try again in the summer when he turned 3. We resigned to changing his diaper along side his little sitter. No point of pushing something that just wasn't happening.
Well lo and behold once we stopped trying and he was surrounded by his cousins for a weekend he decided he was ready.
Here is how it went (please don't hate me). His cousins left 2 weeks ago Sunday. That Wednesday he woke up from nap and said "no more diapers. LB is a big boy now. Give me big boy underwear." He then proceeded to march in the bathroom and use the potty. He did that all day long and all the next day. He even woke up from naps and bedtime with completely dry diapers. So we tested the waters and let him wear underwear to bed and nap. He had one night of accidents and no more. He just yells for us at 3am to take him to the potty.
So that was that. We are done with diapers and on to underwear. We are still working on pottying in public and not being so afraid of the number two but we are onto boyhood. It happened so quick I was shocked. I guess having a strong willed kid means they will decide when they want to do something and then there is no stopping them. Hopefully potty training AB will be this easy too.
The lesson I learned most was to not push it and not to stress.
