My boy is getting so big. And every day he is reminding me he is getting bigger and bigger. Also, every afternoon when the school bus drives by he asks me when will it be his turn to ride in it. I am not ready for school days. I am not ready for him to grow up. But I know it must happen. God has big plans for his sweet heart and I need to foster that growth and let him grow and go. But man am I glad that day is not yet.
On Monday we went on a little mother-son date. It was just what my heart needed, time alone with my boy. Days are getting long here full of temper-tantrum, time outs, throwing and losing toys, and showing me his little "big" personality. There are also lots of sweet moments but a night alone always seems to make those sweet moments better.
Our local Chickfila hosted a mother-son date called "date knight". LB had a blast going to dinner with me, handing me a flower, and decorating his armor. He would have nothing to do with the cow though but had plenty of fun playing in the play place. We finished our night with ice cream. As I was driving us back home I told him he was the best knight ever. He turned to me reached for my hand and said "mommy you are the best princess ever". My heart melted. He shot me a big smile and said I love you. I could not be more pleased with my tender hearted boy with a big personality.
I am cherishing this stage he is in. I am loving his cuddles and kisses and hugs. Knowing that soon he won't give them so freely. I cherish my boy and his ability to bust out in dance moves in the middle of grocery shopping or his boy "noises" followed by laughter. He has begun cracking himself up and his favorite one is to tell this joke "burp:: ::rrrr:: I burp like a pirate mom ::rrrr::" I don't really see the joke part but nonetheless it's funny.
He is just the sweetest boy and loves on his sister and mommy and daddy.
