Menu Planning

So I took a giant step towards organizing today and actually planned my menu for the WHOLE week! I found a cool feature on the Hy-Vee website and since that is the store we shop at most I think it will help me alot. You can go on there and look through their weekly ads, online ads, and their organic online ad. You go through all of the ads, click on the items you want to get, and they make a list organized for you! Plus you can click on the coupons and print them right then too. Who knew menu planning waas so easy :)

I will admit though that I had to transfer the list to a word doc to add a few items that weren't in the ad but it took me no time. I'm excited to try out this new method of grocery shopping, I may be a changed woman after tonight! Ok so on to the menu I planned for the week, not sure if you all want to hear but I'm excited so I'm gonna share :)

Monday(aka tonight): Italian Wedding Soup... I made this awhile ago and just thawed it out for tonight. So excited to eat then head to the store, especially cause its 7* tonight!

Tuesday: Italian-style Pork Chops with Roasted Garlic Potatoes

Wednesday: Chicken Stir-fry

Thursday: Taco Soup

Friday: Hubby's taking me out for Valentine's dinner so no cooking for me :)

Saturday: Chicken and pasta casserole (I hate the word casserole cause it doesn't even describe how yummy this is... its basically chicken parmesan made super easy in a baking dish)

Sunday: Pot Roast

I also have a meal for next Monday, as Wade has ear surgery so I have to pick up a few extra things so I can stay in and take care of him. I think I may like this planning out meals things... and I'm sure it will be a great habit to have once the baby arrives!

On another note, I am working on picking out paint colors for pretty much the entire house. I think I may post my top colors on here so you all can cast votes on them. We have to paint our kitchen/dining and living room because Wade is converting our coat closet into a pantry so we will have to repaint that area, but we both don't like the colors they were painted so decided to just repaint the whole area. Is this what they call nesting, the urge to change and rearrange your entire house? Cause if it is I have a severe case of nesting right now :)

  1. Tip: If you make something that freezes well over the next few months, make two and freeze one. After the baby is born and all the baby dinners are done and all the helping hands have gone home, you will have a fridge full of meals. It's lovely!

  2. I agree with Sara. I tried to make waffles like 4 days after giving birth and forgot the sugar. BUT they were still edible. Do yourself this favour. I vote that you blog the paint swatches! And with the photos you showed me, I think you are wise to paint!

  3. I need to get better at planning a weekly menu! I usually just fly by the seat of my pants and plan a monthly menu, but don't really stick to it. We have our favorites in rotation, but those get old after a while. Tonight I made stir fry veggies and chicken, and cooked my basmati rice with coconut milk and ginger instead of just plain water. It was delish! Yes, post the paint swatches! I'm wanting to paint a few rooms in my house this spring...

  4. menu planning is the only way I am good at cooking on a regular basis. it makes my life so much easier! however, some weeks something comes up at least once and i don't end up being able to use everything and then other things come up and some of my veggies end up going bad. that's the only down side :( oh, and i looked at your paint colors. i like the purple best. :) happy painting! that's so fun! :)

  5. That is so cool! I wish we had Hy-Vee's in Texas. I'll have to check to see if my local grocery store has something similar they offer. Thanks for sharing your meal ideas. You have inspired me!
