So I have a few questions about household things. So if this kind of stuff bores you no need to read any further, but if you have good suggestions please read on and offer your tips, advice, or ideas. I am open. I need some help people. My brain seems to be functioning to a lesser extent these days and with the birth of lil man coming up I know I should get this stuff done now before I have no brain cells left. So onto my dilemmas.
Deep Freezing.....So as of late we purchased a deep freeze, ya know so we could have extra freezer space for all the food we don't eat. But I have been wondering.... what are some meals you all freeze that taste just as good when you thaw them? I basically on freeze raw meats, pasta sauces, stir fry veggies, and chili. Everything else I freeze doesn't taste quite as good when we thaw them and I end up just throwing them away which serves me no good. I mean I buy and cook the things in bulk so I can have meals later but when they don't taste the way I want them to thawed I end up wasting all that money and/or time. I'd really like some ideas on what to freeze for the weeks after lil man is here, so I don't have to try and cook all the time.
Deep Cleaning.... So I think I have entered nesting mode big time and want to clean the whole house. Which I have started. Unfortunately, last week me and mopping had a little fight and I ended up in the splits. BUT that was just a mishap and I learned my lesson...wet floors and pregnancy balance don't mesh. Anyway, on to my question. What are some cleaning products you all use that are safe for pregnancy and don't smell like vinegar or other strong scents? Cause some of the ones that are all natural make me gag, and I don't like the thought of spending $2 more a bottle just to get the green products.
Baby's Laundry.... How early did you clean all the new baby clothes you got? I thought about starting to clean his newborn and 0-3mo clothes now but wasn't sure if that was too early. I know that may sound like a silly question but honestly I have been debating this for weeks. Oh and his towels? I already washed all his bedding but have been thinking I may wash it again a week before he arrives.
Thanks for your help :)
As far as cleaning goes, I just make sure everything is well ventilated. I clean a lot with vinegar and baking soda, but my most favorite all purpose cleaner right now is Bac-Out, by Biokleen. It smells amazing, and is really concentrated. It's great for toilets, mopping, and getting up stains (because of the enzymes) they also sell an all purpose cleaner, but I use Bac Out for everything.
ReplyDeleteAs for baby clothes, I started washing mine early and stored them in rubbermaid totes, that kept them clean and dust free. Then about a week or two before my due date, I transfered to dressers. Trust me, you do not want to be washing load after load of clothes with a 2 week old.
As far as freezing meals goes, I stink at it. But there are a lot of blogs and websites dedicated to once a month cooking - and there are TONS of freezer recipes.
Kels-i-bells - the splits? Ouch, be careful! I LOVE the deep freeze. That was Q's and my's VERY FIRST couple purchase. It is true, after you go through labor you can NOT think. I tried to make waffles and forgot the sugar. Blech. The secret is really to not BAKE anything, just prepare everything. I make my meals ahead and then write on a canning sticker what it is, what temp and for how long. You can freeze bread dough, tatertot casserole, lasagna, meat loaf, burritos, Mexican stuffed shells... For this I would buy loads of disposable aluminum baking dishes use and TOSS.
ReplyDeleteI honestly let Q clean the bathrooms and he used bleach. Since Gooner has started crawling I have just now started using natural.
I only had like 7 onesies for Gooner when she was itty bitty. Doing laundry wasn't really a problem. When I got my bag ready I got her clothing ready.
Yay, he'll be here soon!
