Did I mention we are working on that again? It's all part of the weening process. LB is learning how to put himself to sleep. I know I know...he should've been doing that all along but I like cuddles and I like when my sweet boy allows me to cuddle him. Therefore I took full advantage of his sleep cuddles when I could. But we have started to notice that if we ever want a night out we must teach our sweet little man how to fall asleep on his own. He is actually doing really great at it. Especially for nap time. I simple tell him we are going to read two books, sing a song, and then take a nap. He normally falls asleep within 5 minutes of laying down. He loves reading his books so I think that really helps. Night time is a different story. I think part of it is because daddy is home and he knows his daddy is a sucker for cuddles and sweet hugs, so LB takes advantage of daddy's big arms wrapped around him. Really I don't blame him. I too like it when daddy wraps his arms around me. Slowly but surely he will be a sleeping champ. And we will celebrate by having a night out and giving LB lots of kisses and hugs that next morning.
Here are some sweet pictures of LB asleep in daddy's arms and us using that time for a photo op ;)
Daddy resisted hard but finally laid him on the floor for a bit. I continued to snap some pictures. I just couldn't help it, sleeping babies are the cutest!
He always seems to sleep with one or both hands in the air. So cute
What does bedtime routine look like in your house? Have you always had a set one with your kiddos or does it vary by child or season (like say in the summer they go to bed later)?
Our kids are all old enough to go to sleep on their own now but our boy always slept better in his bed. I rocked all of my kids to sleep. It was probably some of my favorite memories!
ReplyDeleteI WISH my kids would have let me cuddle them to sleep! Neither one like that, though, and both prefer to be in their bed to sleep. Sprig is the worst, she gets flat out cranky if she's not in her bed when she gets tired. Won't cuddle for nothing! When she's awake or nursing is another story, she loves being held...but not for bedtime. We're still working on her sleeping, too. So far we're down to an occasional 2 a.m. feeding, but usually she holds out until 4 or 5 to eat. I'd rather feed her at 2 and get four hours of sleep in a row than to wake up at 2 because she's fussing, and then wake up again at 4 when she's hungry, and then again at 6 because Q always seems to wake up at the crack of dawn. It's all about picking your battles. ;)
ReplyDeleteAdorable pics!
I too wish my babies would let me cuddle them. they are both scream themselves to sleep kind. :( For Lo we would take a bath, read a book, turn her music on and tell her goodnight. At times she would go right to sleep and other times she had to scream herself to sleep. This is the general routine to this day, as she grows bed times have varied. I have learned to hone in on her cues of when she gets tired and move her bedtime accordingly.
ReplyDeleteNow for MW I have zero routine right now, but slowly trying to find my groove with him. He is 5 months so around 730/8 he gets tired and I just lay him down and he goes to sleep. Of course he still wakes to nurse around 230/3a and then goes right back down.
It is going to be different for every kid and every season of life they go through. Good luck. He is a cutie sleeping there.
You look so pretty in that pic of you and LB. And it's so sweet that he likes to fall asleep while you hold him still. Colton started hating that around 3 months :( We try and try.. but when hes sleepy he fusses until we lay him down in the crib, with the black-out curtain closed and his lullaby CD on, and he falls right asleep. Easy, but I miss the cuddling. He wont even cuddle when hes awake. Rotten baby (:
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my alone time with Q. This is one reason why I don't understand co sleeping...at all. We put her to bed between 7 and 8 depending on how long her nap is earlier. I read to her and she goes to bed. Always has. I never even nursed her to sleep because I was worried about her teeth. :) He is an adorable sleeper!
ReplyDeleteSO PRESH!!! I can't stand this much cuteness so early. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your botty slapping comment made ME laught out loud! I didn't see that until you mentioned it, and now that's all I can think about when I look at that photo! Seriously too funny!
They are only little once. My husband and I decided that there will be plenty of years for going out alone after the kids are grown and gone. So we cuddle and snuggle her to sleep and SOAK IT UP! :)
